Role Details
The Head of Category and Insights leads Vinarchy’s category growth agenda and insight capability - translating consumer, shopper, customer, and market data into clear strategies that grow the wine category and Vinarchy’s share across on and offpremise channels. The role sets a multiyear category strategy, builds bestinclass customer partnerships and joint business plans, steers the research and analytics roadmap, and partners with Brand, Commercial, Revenue Growth Management (RGM), and Finance to deliver measurable value. It also develops high performing teams, consistent ways of working, and disciplined measurement to inform investment and execution decisions.
Your Key Accountabilities
- Lead Category Strategy & Growth: Define and deliver a multi‑year category strategy and annual plans that unlock sustainable, profitable growth for Vinarchy and customers.
- Own Insights & Analytics: Shape the insights and research roadmap, integrating consumer, shopper and sales data into clear, decision‑ready recommendations for senior leaders.
- Partner Commercially: Work closely with Commercial Finance and RGM to influence pack/price architecture, promotions, trade investment and innovation business cases.
- Engage Customers: Provide category thought leadership to customers, supporting JBPs, assortment, space and execution decisions.
- Lead & Build Capability: Develop a high‑performing Category & Insights team and embed consistent ways of working, toolkits and governance.
- Ensure Governance & Compliance: Uphold data, research and responsible marketing standards aligned to the wine and alcohol category.
Your Knowledge and Skills
- Proven experience shaping category strategies, building JBPs, and partnering with major retailers across on‑ and off‑premise channels.
- Strong hands‑on capability with syndicated and custom research, including scan, panel and loyalty data (e.g. Nielsen/Circana, Dunnhumby).
- Demonstrated ability to commercialise insight, influencing RGM levers, innovation, pricing and portfolio decisions.
- Sharp strategic and commercial acumen, turning complex data into clear growth strategies and customer‑ready stories.
- Excellent insight storytelling and influence, with the ability to align Brand, Sales, Finance and Supply teams around decisions.
- Confident people leader who builds capability, sets clear standards and fosters collaboration.
- Sound understanding of data privacy, research ethics and competition law, relevant to beverage alcohol.
Essential Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Commerce/Business, Economics, Statistics or related field (postgraduate study advantageous).
• 10+ years in Category Management and/or Insights within FMCG/beverage, including the wine/liquor sector or agencies serving these categories.
• 5+ years’ leadership of multi disciplinary category/insights teams with a track record of delivering business impact.
