Role Details

Based in Adelaide, the Warehouse Operations Manager plays a critical role in supporting Vinarchy’s domestic supply chain, overseeing warehouse operations across Berri Estates, Rowland Flat Distribution Centres, and key third‑party logistics partners. This role provides broad exposure across the business, with occasional involvement in export container freight and import/export activities.

You will take ownership of budgeting and forecasting across multiple divisions, lead and influence Tier 1 performance measures including CFR, DIFOT and Warehouse Cost/9LE, and provide oversight across both Vinarchy‑owned and third‑party warehouse operations. The role also holds accountability for inventory management across dry goods and finished goods (excluding bulk wine) and supports freight contract negotiations, with a strong focus on warehouse efficiency and cost impact.

 

Your Key Accountabilities

Technical

  • Lead warehouse budgets, rolling forecasts and performance analysis to drive cost, service, safety and efficiency outcomes.
  • Own KPI and SLA performance across 3PL sites, including DIFOT forums, supplier reviews, non‑conformance management and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure inventory integrity across Finished Goods and Dry Goods through effective controls, stocktakes and discrepancy resolution.
  • Lead network optimisation, warehouse sourcing and onboarding, including risk management and business continuity planning.
  • Act as subject matter expert for Chain of Responsibility (CoR), ensuring governance, compliance and escalation where required.

People management & development

  • Lead, mentor and performance‑manage warehouse operations teams across multiple sites.
  • Build a customer‑focused, safety‑led culture that embraces change, efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Support effective industrial and employee relations while ensuring compliance with performance, safety and company standards.

Safety, quality & compliance

  • Ensure the safety of employees, contractors, carriers and the public across warehousing and transport operations.
  • Maintain supplier documentation and quality standards and manage customer non‑conformances.
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure compliance with OH&S and quality system requirements.

Your Knowledge and Skills

• Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management or a related discipline (highly desirable)
• Minimum five years’ experience in national‑level distribution warehousing, ideally within wine business, FMCG or a complex operational environment
• Proven experience leading and managing teams, with a strong focus on performance, accountability and safety
• Solid knowledge of warehousing operations, inventory management and Australian Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements
• Strong analytical capability, including reporting on KPIs and budgets, supported by advanced Excel skills
• Clear communicator with strong planning, organisational and problem‑solving skills, able to perform effectively under pressure
• Willingness to travel and participate in regular out‑of‑hours conference calls as required

 

Essential Qualifications

• At least 5 years’ experience in distribution warehousing at  national level, ideally in FMCG
• Experience in leading and managing a team
• Experience is managing inventory
• Experience in a large complex wine business (desirable)
