About the role
We are now recruiting for an Alternative Products Technician to join our Supply Chain and Operations team. This position includes all aspects of Alternative Product production at Berri Estates. Currently these products include Grape Juice, Grape Juice Concentrate, Condensate, Flavoured and Unflavoured Low and No Alcohol Products.
The successful candidate will be responsible for Grape juice processing throughout vintage and processing the product until it is due for dispatch in a package that is in specification.
You will be based at our Berri Estates Winery which is the largest combined Winery and Packaging Facility in the Southern Hemisphere with a proud heritage and world class technology. You will be part of a committed team, working alongside passionate colleagues with an ambitious change agenda. This role is offered on a permanent full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Strategic:
- Work with customers on the product we can supply.
- Receive orders and specifications of requirements.
- Assess time frames and make recommendations.
- Coordinate work through the winery and Laboratory.
- Plan the operations as required.
Operational:
- Understand the total process of making Grape and Wine Based Alternative Products such as, Grape Juice, Grape Juice Concentrate, Condensate, Flavoured and Unflavoured Low and No Alcohol Products.
- Involvement in any NPD and trial work where grape and wines are used eg Low & No Alcohol Wines & wine products and flavoured products
- Liaise with all stakeholders involved in the product.
- Vintage roles will include, but not limited to Grape Juice Production, Yeast Culture Production, De-sludge, Ferment Monitoring,
- Write and follow operations for the winery.
- Understand and meet the required timelines of internal and external customer.
- Audit results – Nil NCRs.
- Audits of product in tank of juices, condensate, Wine Product, Low and No Alcohol (includes routine rummaging, tank tops, analytical checks)
- Support winemaking team where required
- Coordinate the Bulk Wine Purchase QA/Analysis
- Co-ordinate and communicate all customer specific analytical & microbiological testing with Laboratory Team in a timely manner.
- Participate in conference calls and meetings
What you’ll bring:
- At least 5 years-experience in the wine industry
- Food technology, Winemaking & Laboratory experience
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good understanding of wine/food production
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Strong on the Detail of the position.
- Positive “Can Do” attitude.
- Drivers Licence.
- Full Australian working rights – Citizenship, Permanent residency or valid Visa
- Autonomy and the flexibility to execute on strategy as well as deliver excellent hands-on work
