We are looking for an experienced and proactive Maintenance and Irrigation Coordinator - Vineyards to join our Viticulture Team and support daily irrigation and vineyard operations across our Langhorne Creek and Limestone Coast sites. This role suits someone who enjoys autonomy, problem‑solving, and working closely with people who care about producing exceptional fruit.

Role Details

In this hands‑on supervisory role, you’ll take the lead on the efficient daily operation of vineyard irrigation systems (around 90% of your focus), while also supporting broader vineyard activities during peak periods. You’ll monitor, maintain and optimise irrigation performance, coordinate vineyard programs, and ensure safe, smooth operations across multiple sites.

You’ll work closely with the Vineyard Operations Manager, communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders, and help guide and develop vineyard operators in irrigation best practice.

Your Key Accountabilities

  • Operate and monitor irrigation systems to meet daily schedules

  • Troubleshoot issues and maintain systems to manufacturer specifications

  • Manage irrigation data, water flows, pressure readings and monitoring equipment

  • Coordinate vineyard programs for optimal productivity

  • Support vineyard operations during high‑demand periods

  • Maintain stock, supplies and accurate reporting

  • Liaise with contractors, staff and the Vineyard Manager

  • Train and support vineyard operators in irrigation principles

  • Contribute to safe work practices, compliance and continuous improvement

Technical Focus Area

  • Soil moisture probe interpretation & irrigation scheduling

  • Acid injection & fertigation

  • System calibration, repairs and maintenance

  • Water metering, evaporation data collection & application

  • Frost monitoring and system evaluation

Your Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Minimum 4 years’ vineyard or equivalent experience

  • Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel and computer‑based data systems

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with limited instruction

  • Experience supervising or guiding operational staff

  • Solid understanding of seasonal vineyard activities and workplace safety

Desirable

  • Graduate Diploma in Irrigation Management (or equivalent)

  • Experience coordinating irrigation programs

  • Certificate III in Food Processing – Viticulture (or equivalent)
