About the role
Cellarhands are responsible for the preparation and blending of wine for bottling, while ensuring wine movements are completed accurately, on time, and with due regard to quality, hygiene, and safety.
The position contributes to the Vinarchy Winemakers vision and mission and strives for continuous improvement in all that we do. It aims to achieve best practice, find new and better ways, leave our place better than we found it and contributes to creating a place where you want to work.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Key Responsibilities
- Performing cellar duties as delegated by the Winemaker Team. At all times following documented standard operating procedures. Typical duties are wine tanker loading, pump and rack transfer jobs, clarification operations, addition/adjustment and mixing, tank cleaning, flexibag loading, and assisting in the Cask Line from time to time as required.
- Maintaining a hygienic and safe working environment by continually attending to good cellar housekeeping and cleaning.
- Ensuring that personal protection (PPE) and safety equipment is used at all times and that issued work uniforms/PPE are correctly worn.
- Complete cellar works orders accurately and neatly.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and problem solving in the winery.
- Train other staff on tasks you have been deemed competent on – as and when required.
Teamwork:
- Assists Management and other staff members to achieve efficiency, quality and yield targets.
- Assists on other sites within the region as required.
- Fosters and enhances co-operation by working constructively with team members.

What you will bring:
- A can-do attitude, to be hard working and have the ability to thrive in a continuous improvement environment with a safety focus
- To have worked across at least 2 vintages with further experience outside of vintage
- Previous experience working in a large technological winery would be advantageous
- To have specific skills or experience in the operation of any of the following equipment: crossflow filtration, centrifuge, decanter, flotation, dynamos
- A practical aptitude and good communication skills.
- A good level of strength and fitness are important as these roles are physically active
- A full clean Driver’s Licence is desirable
- An interest in wine would be advantageous
