About the Role
Vinarchy Winemakers New Zealand has a permanent, full-time position available for a Winemaker. You will work with the Senior Winemaker to ensure wine quality and stylistic direction is correct for your brands and blends while being responsible for producing wines that comply with regulatory requirements.
To be successful in this role you will need to be ready to step into the Winemaker role and hit the ground running, with a can-do attitude, enthusiasm, have problem solving skills, to be hard working and have the ability to thrive in a continuous improvement environment with a safety focus. You should have a practical aptitude and good communication skills.
What You'll Do
• Take a leadership role in projects, manage them from end to end.
• Over critical Vintage period lead by example and assist in training and mentoring
• Take on aspects of Senior Winemaker role in Senior Winemakers absence
• Have a strategic view of winemaking for region and for the winery, acting to ensure daily activity supports the strategy
• Become a subject matter expert on our Wine Management systems
What You'll Bring
Essential:
• Tertiary Qualification in Winemaking or bachelor’s in science
• Excellent Communication Skills
• Previous Winemaking Experience – 4 years in a medium to large winery
• Strong Computer Skills
• Good palate and appreciation of wine styles and quality
Desired:
• Leadership experience
• Understanding and experience of winemaking styles specific to Marlborough
• Winemaking in a large format
