Join St Hugos restuarant | Full time role  | Agile team of 4 in the kitchen

We have an exciting opportunity for a Chef to join our team at St Hugos - one of the Barossa’s top rated restaurants: where craft, produce and wine come together.

At St Hugo Restaurant, you’ll cook honest, ingredient‑led food with a tight‑knit brigade of four, learn from an established team, and help deliver unforgettable experiences in one of the region’s premier cellar‑door venues.

Why You'll Love It

  • Grow fast, learn every day. Work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with an Executive Chef and seasoned team who value mentorship, consistency, and clean technique.
  • Cook what the Barossa grows best. Champion regional produce and let the ingredients speak—paired thoughtfully with our wines.
  • Premium guest experiences. Contribute to signature moments at the Brand Home, including the Chef’s Table, and elevate the connection between food and wine.
  • A stable, salaried role in a high‑performance yet supportive environment - small team, big impact.

About The Role

You’ll support the Executive and Head Chef to deliver an à la carte menu and premium experiences that reflect the St Hugo ethos.

Expect hands‑on service across restaurant and lounge, close collaboration with FOH, and smart, disciplined kitchen operations: stock control, ordering, prep standards, hygiene, and equipment care. You’ll play a part in cost management and continuous improvement, too.

What You'll Do

  • Execute outstanding, honest food aligned to our food‑and‑wine philosophy
  • Collaborate with FOH to convert visitor traffic into delighted diners.
  • Help shape function menus and support events as needed
  • Maintain stock, compliance, kitchen hygiene, and equipment standards.
  • Uphold QSE policies (Quality, Safety, Environment) and RSA requirements.

What You'll Bring

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and proven technical skills.
  • Food Safety certification and Responsible Service of Alcohol.
  • Passion for wine and the Barossa; clear communication; team mindset.
  • Flexibility for a 7‑day operating environment and occasional after‑hours events.
  • Desirable:  3+ years’ experience, First Aid/Fire Warden training, and local hospitality knowledge.
