About the Role
We are now recruiting for two Grade 1 Packaging Operators to join our Packaging Operations team based in Rowland Flat, South Australia. In these roles you will develop and begin to apply skills in packaging and perform a range of duties, contributing to the packaging of a high-quality finished product. This is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic and supportive workplace in the heart of South Australia's wine region.
These are casual positions offering flexibility around other commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out various tasks as directed, in accordance with assessed level of competence
- Undertake training in the operation of packaging equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and company procedures, with maximum efficiency, ensuring all quality, safety and environmental standards are met
- Understand and comply with safe operating procedures (SOPs), picture process maps (PPMs) and good housekeeping practices
- Carry out prescribed quality checks and monitoring to ensure all finished goods are produced within specification to a high-quality standard
- Maintain plant to operating standard (including housekeeping and preventative maintenance)
- Participate in and support 5 Stars continuous improvement activities (after receiving appropriate training)
- Identify and report incidents and hazards and report them in accordance with company policies and procedures (IRIS reports)
- Clearly understand production targets and be actively involved in identifying and eliminating inefficiencies
- Understand the content of visual performance management (VPM) boards
- Understand and adhere to departmental and company policies and procedures
- Attend and participate in the 5-minute shift handover meetings, toolbox meetings and other departmental or company communication forums
- Report problems, issues and opportunities to the Packaging Supervisor
- Actively participate in problem solving activities as requested
- Undertake training and assessment in induction units, as specified in the training plan
- Participate in ongoing training and development and proactively seek learning opportunities
- Complying with relevant legislation and the Vinarchy’s QSE policies, standards and procedures.
What You'll Bring
Desirable:
• Experience in Packaging or a FMCG production environment
• Basic computer literacy (able to perform basic functions in Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel and enter data in database applications)
• Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles
• High Risk Work Licence (Forklift)
Essential:
• Suited to working in manufacturing and production operations within a large-scale industrial environment
• Meets all skill requirements - Grade 1 Packaging Operations
• Effective literacy, numeracy and communication skills
• Current Drivers Licence and ability to work shift work, weekends and complete reasonable overtime as required
